Girl In Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow Review (NON-SPOILER)

Hello my little fellow munchkins, this is your Queen here with a review. I have been slowly trying to catch up on NaNoWriMo but I am still very far behind, but I decided to write a review for this book.

Author: Kathleen Glasgow

Pages: 418

Genre: Young Adult

Publisher: Delacorte Press

Publishing Date: August 30, 2016

Description according to GoodReads, “Charlotte Davis is in pieces. At seventeen she’s already lost more than most people lose in a lifetime. But she’s learned how to forget. The broken glass washes away the sorrow until there is nothing but calm. You don’t have to think about your father and the river. Your best friend, who is gone forever. Or your mother, who has nothing left to give you.

Every new scar hardens Charlie’s heart just a little more, yet it still hurts so much. It hurts enough to not care anymore, which is sometimes what has to happen before you can find your way back from the edge.”

My First Thoughts:

  • I am going to be honest my first thoughts I barely remember. All I remember is:
    • I saw it somewhere on a booktubers channel and I decided to buy it from what she said.

Thoughts After I Read The Book

  • This is going to be a short and sweet review.
    • I very much like this book, but it is very depressing as it contains:
      • Sexual Abuse
      • Physical Abuse
      • Self-Harm
      • Emotional Abuse
      • Alcohol
      • Drug
    • This book was very fast paced for me as I was deeply immersed in the book and I somewhat to a degree understood what was going on.
    • This book is not for the light or faint hearted and it is not for anyone who is in recovery and even has recovered from the said events that I put up top because, this book talks about everything ugly and deep and in so much detail that it may want you yo relapse, send you into a panic attack or more.
    • This book very much contains a trigger warning on the cover yet I still highly stress the point above.
    • This book from what I have heard from some people has very much related to them on a personal level.
    • All of these characters went through a major character development which is something that I personally loved!

In conclusion, I give this book a 4.5 out off 5 stars.
