The Book Snob Tag

Hello my fellow little munchkins! How are you all doing? I am doing pretty well. I am still going back and forth between the hospital, home and doing school work but I am trying to manage my time better. So hopefully, I will be able to post more!

I was tagged by HawthorneBooks to do this tag, so here I am! However I cannot find who made the tag so if you know who it is then please let me know so I can make that change to this post.

1. ADAPTATION SNOB: DO YOU ALWAYS READ THE BOOK BEFORE YOU SEE THE MOVIE?

I don’t always but I prefer to read the book before I see the movie. The reason why is because I like to have pre-context of the movie and I also like to create an idea of who the characters looks like in my own mind before I see them. Otherwise if I did it in reverse I would only be able to see the actors as the characters even if they don’t look the part which sometimes ruins the book for me.

I definitely do believe that there are certain movies that have been adapted better than others. Like the maze runner was not that good. If I am being honest I only watched it for Dylan.

However, The Hunger Games movies were almost perfect in terms of being like the book compared to the divergent series that went downhill with every movie that progressed. I just hope that future movies and shows that are adapted are better than others.

2. FORMAT SNOB: YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE 1 FORMAT IN WHICH TO READ BOOKS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. WHICH ONE DO YOU CHOOSE: PHYSICAL BOOKS, EBOOKS, OR AUDIOBOOKS?

I would choose to read physical books. The reason why is because I read more if it is in that format. I prefer it in that format and I like to feel the amount of progress I’ve made through the book.

3. SHIP SNOB: WOULD YOU DATE OR MARRY A NON-READER?

I would date and marry a non-reader. That is probably the least book snob thing I am like. I mean it would be awesome if they did or didn’t read. I would just hope that they are fine with my bookish rambles.

4. GENRE SNOB: YOU HAVE TO DITCH ONE GENRE – NEVER TO BE READ AGAIN FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. WHICH ONE DO YOU DITCH?

Oh that is very easy for me. I would choose the genre to never read again would be Historical Fiction or Sci-Fi. I never really cared for either of the genres but I think I would maybe like to read a couple Sci-Fi books later in life that are YA. So I would choose to never read Historical Fiction ever again.

5. UBER GENRE SNOB: YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE TO READ FROM ONE GENRE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. WHICH GENRE DO YOU CHOOSE?

I would choose to read fantasy books. I hope that would be in any age group but if I had to choose a specific age group it would be Young Adult Historical Fiction.

6. COMMUNITY SNOB: WHICH GENRE DO YOU THINK RECEIVES THE MOST SNOBBERY FROM THE BOOKISH COMMUNITY?

I think the genre that receives the most snobbery from the book community but specifically the book twitter community would be a tie between either romance or fantasy. Just because there can be some problems with romance books and authors just as there can be within fantasy books. However, just based on what I have seen on twitter for the past three years I believe those are the two area that don’t receive the most snobbery but issues.

7. SNOBBERY RECIPIENT: HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SNUBBED FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE BEEN READING OR FOR READING IN GENERAL?

I have definitely been snubbed for something that I was reading, sometimes people make fun of it for being to childlike while others make fun of it for being to adult-like. So it’s really a double edged sword because there never a time where someone won’t make fun of someone else for reading something that they enjoy.

On the other hand, I have been made fun of for reading in general. The reason why is because everyone sees it as a GEEK or a NERD thing to do when in reality I just do it because I personally like it and it helps distract me from real world problems.
