Crossline by Russ Colchamario Book Tour with Interview

Hello my fellow little munchkins. How are you all doing? I am doing fairly well. I have mostly been trying to do some things for my community college class but otherwise than that I have become a hermit myself within my house because I need to catch up on my sleep.

Anyways, why don’t we get into this post?

Genre: Science Fiction/ Space Opera
Age category: Adult

Perfect for fans of Firefly, Flash Gordon, Stargate, and Escape from New York

Hotdog pilot Marcus Powell has been selected to test Taurus Enterprises’ Crossline prototype craft and its newly developed warp thrusters, which, if successful, will revolutionize space travel as we know it.

But during his jaunt across the stars, Powell is forced into a parallel universe — including a parallel Earth — where he finds himself at the center of an epic battle he may have been destined for all along.

Meanwhile, back home, reclusive oil tycoon and Taurus CEO Buddy Rheams Jr. — who sent Powell on that very mission — has a mysterious past and a secret agenda, one that could prevent Powell from ever making it back to his wife and little girl.

From author Russ Colchamiro, Crossline is a psychedelic, action-packed romp across time, space, and dimension that asks the question: once you cross the line, can you ever really go back?

Q: What made you want to write CROSSLINE?

Russ: I first envisioned CROSSLINE as a comic book mini-series in the late 1990s. I had an idea for a space adventure where a pilot is testing out new warp thrusters and discovers something out in space he wasn’t expecting. I worked on a 3-issue comic book script with a friend of mine, but life got in the way and it never came together. I loved the concept, though, and decided a few years later to vastly widen the scope of the story and write it as a novel. I may go back someday and translate it back into comic book form, but I’ll probably wait until I write the next CROSSLINE book. And yes! I’m planning on a second book. I’ve got some very cool ideas brewing.

Q: If you could tell your younger writing self… something… what would it be?

Russ: How much time do we have? LOL! Most importantly, I would tell my younger self to ignore the haters and doubters out there, believe in yourself, and work your tail off, especially when you’d rather give up. Life isn’t easy, but take the long view, understand that success in its various forms comes slowly over time, but it will come, and have as much fun as you can along the way. A sense of humor about yourself will help alleviate some of the stress of life.

Q: What advice do you have for other writers?

Russ: Write every day, if you can. It doesn’t matter how well (or poorly) you think you did any given day… stick with it. The more you write, the better you’ll get. And go out of your way to seek feedback from other writers, editors, and reviewers who can give you the critical notes you need to hear, whether you want to hear them or not. If you aren’t willing to acknowledge your weaknesses, and we all have them, they will be more difficult to overcome.

Q: How long on average does it take you to write a book?

Russ: On average, about 4 months to write a first draft of about 90,000 words. Another 2-3 months to edit. And then another 2-3 months to receive and then input various notes I’ve gotten from my trusted beta readers. So, all in… less than a year.

Q: Any tips on how to go through a dreaded writer’s block?

Russ: Yes! Physically leave your home. Get some exercise. I know many writers are introverts and loathe the idea of the gym, but physical motion is critical. All you have to do is put on your sneakers, leave the house, and go for a walk. If you walk 15 minutes in any direction, then turn around and come home, that’s 30 minutes. Get your blood flowing and get some fresh air, and chances are you’ll start to loosen up and activate your creativity. Some of my best ideas come when I’m out walking my dog.

Q: Do you think the cover plays an important part of the buying processes?

Russ: Covers are critical and not always easy to nail. I’m very happy with most of my book covers. For CROSSLINE, the most current cover is version number 3 (and my favorite of the 3). I have no plans for another one!

Q: How can your readers discover more about you and your work?

Russ: You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and find my books on Amazon, my Website, and the Crazy 8 Press Website, plus various other channels, like Kobo, B&N and I think a few others.
